Juvederm Voluma XC

Juvederm has developed several products to help combat cosmetic issues associated with aging. One such product was developed for wrinkles and folds on the face. Juvederm Voluma XC is specific formulated to restore volume loss in the cheek areas in patients aged 21 and over.

Juvederm Voluma XC is a gel made from a form of hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in the skin) using a new advanced technique called Vycross. The manufacturing process produces a smooth gel that is consistent and flows easily.

The gel is injected into areas needing lifting or recontouring (in the mid-face and cheek areas). The injections are done with small microcannulas that reduce discomfort and bruising after the procedure.

Optimal volume and recontouring can last an average of two years. It is thought that using hyaluronic acid in the skin can help the skin produce new collagen. Natural collagen production will help the corrections last longer.

The use of Voluma has shown the added benefit of reducing the amount of other filler material for lines and wrinkles. In some cases, Voluma could eliminate the need for wrinkle fillers altogether. Either effect may have an impact on the overall cost of the treatment desired by the patient.
